Both can be true.
I want my daughter to grow up knowing that loving your family and loving your own life can exist side by side.
That being a good mom doesn't mean becoming a smaller version of yourself.
That you can have your own ideas, work, style, dreams, and opinions and still be completely devoted to the people you love.
I want her to see a woman who built a life that felt like hers.
So that's what I'm doing.
Slowly. Imperfectly. With a lot of coffee.
And I'm really enjoying the life I'm building along the way.
I want her to know how much I loved being her mom.
And I want her to know that I loved being me, too.
Motherhood has made me rethink a lot. My style. My priorities. My time. What I want our home to feel like. Even what success means to me now.
I'm nine months postpartum and still figuring it out.
Some days I feel like I've found my rhythm. Other days I'm eating lunch over the sink with the pump strapped on while wondering how there is still laundry left to be done.
I want her to remember a mom who had her own voice.
Someone who wasn't afraid to stand out, try something new, change her mind, or put herself out there even when someone might have an opinion about it.
